lenore, pre-rehearsal.

she took ballet class for a few months, and had her big recital the weekend of the 16th; she was *so* excited to be able to show me her routine. we spent the better part of the morning before her rehearsal preparing for the trip to boston, getting her hair and makeup on and in place, and getting everything together.

the trip was....well, a disaster, but after the fact, not as bad as i'd initially thought. we stopped in peabody for lunch and then, reviewing the directions for the rehearsal location, off we went.

i should have checked for an exit number, but i didn't think to before hand, so i ended up *way* outside of the general vicinity i needed to be in, having to turn around somewhere outside of burlington, and driving down through *cambridge* before getting myself oriented.

*then*, i ended up getting turned around a couple of times once i'd gotten that far, and by a bit of phone guidance, got myself there after those turnarounds. i was a mess; worried about being late, with a strict timeframe, worried about disappointing lenore, worried that i was going to be given shit for being late. it turned out when i got there that there were parents still arriving, and that the rehearsal hadn't yet started, so i felt less bad, but still.

the best part of the day was the time we spent preparing; taking the pictures, doing her makeup, that special mother-daughter time that simply can't be recreated. we have that kind of time together all the time, but because this was a Big Deal, it was even better.

it just makes me look forward to the first prom, her graduation, and her wedding (if she decides that's the route she wants to go).

i look at her and think about how much she has grown, and how she is so wise beyond her years, and how she is so much like me, in demeanor, and her appearance. she is the light of my life.

it was a big deal and i'm sad i couldn't go with you to her special recital.

she looks more and more like you with each passing year. i dare say she's inherited her smarts from you as well.

to all of you out there who don't know lenore, i can easily say she is the most polite, well-behaved sweet little girl on this planet that i have ever met. just look at those pretty pretty eyes!

i look forward to the day where you *and* she can live without the fear of being chastised for being human and can ultimately relax. :) however, im really happy to see that you *both* enjoyed yourself and can heartily support lenore in whatever she chooses to do. :)
